Reproductive Freedom Storytelling

in collaboration with Carleton Students for Reproductive Freedom

To spread awareness of experiences with reproductive healthcare, education, culture and oppression in our campus community, we are creating an archive of anonymous stories and conversations by Carleton students and alumni.  This website will hold a lasting record of some of the stories of our community at this particularly important window in the history of reproductive rights in the U.S.

This project is part of an Academic Civic Engagement course on the Politics of Reproductive Justice (GWSS 250) at Carleton College in partnership with Carleton Students for Reproductive Freedom.

Our project aims to center the experiences of women of color and other marginalized groups through the lens of Reproductive Justice, which champions the right to have children, the right to not have children, and the right to parent the children we have. Read more about the Reproductive Justice movement on SisterSong’s website here.

We are looking for specific stories relating to Reproductive Justice.  What does that mean? It doesn't have to be a big, life-altering, traumatic event (but it totally can be).  It can be a moment where you felt your rights were being violated (i.e. a doctor didn't believe you about your experience with your own body).  It can be about the first time you learned about sex, puberty, childbirth, abortion, or anything else related.  It can be about how bad the sex-ed in your high school was.  It can be your musings about how you want to raise your kids someday.  Really, it's up to you! We want to give you a chance to tell your weird, personal story without any chance of stigma or judgment.

Everyone has a story, we would love to hear yours.

Carleton Students for Reproductive Freedom

(Previously Students Advocates for Reproductive Choice/SARC)
Our purpose is to provide pro-choice activism opportunities each term through discussion, event planning, escorting, and workshops with an open, friendly, and respectful atmosphere. We work very closely with NARAL Pro-Choice MN so as to have the best access to current events. Our goal is to offer events every term that will allow for campus-wide discussion to be paired with student activism promoting reproductive justice frameworks.
